Chapter 189: How To Trick Orcs Into Doing Manual Labor
Chapter 189: How To Trick Orcs Into Doing Manual Labor
After being shown the benefits of the alliance, Logan, Rasta, and Khan finally came to a decision.
As soon as they returned to their camp, they picked five hundred Orcs and brought them to serve as Leone’s slaves—errr, extra manpower to be used for digging purposes.
Of course, the young man was quite overjoyed after hearing that. Receiving workers who wouldn’t ask for pay was a godsend. If Logan had been a drop-dead gorgeous beauty, then he might have kissed him then and there!
With new manpower, Leone and Daedalus immediately assigned roles.
The grimoire used all the stockpiled iron ore to craft over five hundred pickaxes.
Since the chieftains of the different tribes would arrive in two days, Leone assigned several Orcs to chip off part of the mountain dozens of meters above the cave entrance.
Leone planned to turn these into VIP rooms, which would have a scenic view of the surroundings.
Those who ruled liked to look from high places. With that in consideration, a designated accommodation, akin to a private villa, in Grimjaw Mountain would certainly be a big hit among the chieftains.
In fact, these rooms might even serve as the temporary embassies of the different tribes in the Borderlands!
"Logan, we intend to make your villa the biggest of all," Leone said with a smile. "Bigger than the rooms of the high-ranking barbarian tribes. However, I don’t know how large you want your room to be. Wouldn’t it be better if you dig it yourself so you can decide its size?"
The Orc Champion almost slapped the young man for indirectly asking him to do some grunt work!
Yet, Leone didn’t back down. Knowing that this might happen, he had already asked dozens of barbarians to dig what was supposed to be the first temporary room.
With Leone’s kingdom building powers, he transformed it into a "Model Unit" that could be viewed by anyone.
Of course, he didn’t skimp on the furniture and the design. He was a noble of the Kingdom of Britannia. With that said, their own home was a work of art, personally decorated by his mother.
All he needed to do was buy the furniture blueprints and gather materials. Because of that, it only took him under a minute to finish a room with complete amenities.
When Leone took Logan, Rasta, and Khan to the Model Unit the size of a three-bedroom condominium unit, the Orcs weren’t able to hide their surprise.
Orcs were a primitive race. They didn’t really care about luxuries. However, once they get used to it, then they might not be able to return to sleeping on rough beds or sitting on a wooden chair.
"Why is this chair so soft?" Khan’s body immediately sank as soon as he sat on the couch, a look of comfort betraying his rough features.
Rasta lightly pressed on the bed and was equally surprised at how soft it was.
"Why don’t you lie down on it?" Leone was like a devil, whispering temptations into the Orc Shaman’s ear. "Wouldn’t it be better if you try it out yourself?"
"Hmph! I was going to try it even if you don’t tell me," Rasta replied, trying to hide his surprise by looking tough.
But the moment he laid down on the bed, which Leone made sure would fit even Logan, the Orc Shaman’s expression changed completely.
"All rooms that will be carved into the mountain will have these amenities," Leone said with a smile. "There is also a bathroom equipped with a shower, bath tub, and a toilet. They come in Orc size as well."
Leone wasn’t joking. The toilet was big enough to support Logan’s three-meter tall body without any fear of breaking down!
"Of course, if you don’t want to have your own room that overlooks the mountain, then I guess I won’t force you," Leone sighed. "Alright. Let’s just continue to build the rooms for the chieftains that will arrive in two days.
"You can just oversee the work being done by your subordinates inside the mountain. I still have things to do, so if you want to find me, just ask around."
Though, just as Leone was about to leave, Rasta and Khan’s hands rested on his shoulders, preventing him from leaving.
"Aren’t you being too hasty?" Rasta asked calmly. "Our Champion didn’t say no, did he? Khan?"
"I didn’t hear him say no, Rasta," Khan replied. "In fact. I even heard him say that he wants his own room as well."
"Oh? Is that so?" Leone blinked. "I could have sworn that he was not interested. How about we confirm it, shall we?"
Leone glanced at the Orc Champion, who was wearing a poker face right now.
If Rasta and Khan hadn’t moved fast enough to stop Leone earlier, then he would have stopped him himself!
"Naturally, I want our place to be bigger than this room," Logan stated. "Bigger than any of the puny chieftains’ rooms."
"Of course." Leone nodded. "In fact, I plan to place your room above the rooms of the other chieftains. You deserve better than them."
Logan knew exactly that Leone was buttering him up. Then again, he had to admit that it was working!
If his room was placed above the rooms meant for the human chieftains, then it would naturally mean that he was stronger and more important than them.
Although he understood that he was being manipulated, this was a bait he had to bite.
After all, why wouldn’t he want something as amazing as the stuff inside this room?
"I want that chair to be bigger and longer," Logan said, pointing at the couch.
"You got it," Leone stated. "Would you like me to place three chairs on the balcony as well so you can have breakfast while looking down at the humans from below?"
"You can add that too." Logan nodded.
"How about adding the banner of the Ravage Tribe beside the banner of the Aslan Tribe? If the chieftains see it, then they would definitely be impressed."
"I like that. Make it happen."
"You got it!" Leone nodded while laughing alongside Daedalus through telepathy. "Let’s show those other chieftains what it’s like to live in comfort. Now, please use this pickaxe to start digging.
"I have two of them so that you and Khan can immediately start working. Don’t worry about the stones. They will automatically be collected, so just chip away at the mountain as much as you want."
The young man had summoned two-giant sized pickaxes as if he had already expected Logan’s agreement.
Rasta couldn’t help but shake his head helplessly. The more he knew about Leone, the more he thought that the young man was making them all dance on the palm of his hands.
Yet, for some reason, Rasta didn’t dislike it.
In fact, he was even looking forward to the partnership between the Aslan Tribe and the Ravage Tribe, curious as to how they would elevate each other’s growth.
Logan smiled wryly as he picked up the pickaxe.
Khan didn’t even need to be asked to do it since he was the first to hold the pickaxe Leone had procured.
"Now, please follow me," Leone walked towards the balcony and waved his hand.
Stone pillars that served as stairs emerged from the side of the balcony leading upward.
This show of magical prowess made Rasta almost do a double-take, fascinated at how Leone conjured these stone pillars so easily.
After reaching a height of a hundred meters, right above the model unit, Leone immediately summoned more stone pillars and placed stone foundations over them, allowing the Orcs to stand.
"You can start digging here." Leone patted the rock wall before him. "Feel free to make a spacious cavern. It can be as big as you want. It will be yours, Rasta’s, and Khan’s personal room, so make sure you carve out enough space for the three of you. I’ll handle the interior design once you’re done."
A moment later, Arion landed on the stone platform with Blitz riding on its back.
"Once you’re done, please tell Blitz here," Leone added. "Blitz, look for me once they’re done with their work."
*Squeak!*
Blitz patted its chest, telling Leone that he could count on it.
After bidding the Orcs goodbye, the young man and his pegasus flew down the mountain.
They were headed towards the river where he would construct the temporary quarters of the warriors the barbarian tribes would bring with them.
Logan watched the young man disappear in the distance before shifting his gaze towards Khan, who looked very eager to do some manual labor.
The Orc Champion smiled wryly before raising his pickaxe to start working.
Khan laughed and did the same, competing with his leader as to who could dig faster between them.
Although they still had misgivings on doing manual labor, they decided to turn a blind eye for the time being.
After all, this was going to be their own personal space in the mountain, so they would make it the biggest of all.
Logan and Khan were determined to show the humans, including Leone, what the Orcs could do if they put their heart and mind to it!
