Chapter 155: Appearing On Television
Chapter 155: Appearing On Television
When Raiden woke up the next day, he was surprised that he didn’t get a call from Isadora, considering the level of destruction they had caused last night.
But it was better this way, as he didn’t really know how to explain it to her. Just as he thought about going back to sleep again and taking the rest of the day off, his room door was thrown open with a bang.
"Big brother, big brother, wake up!! Come downstairs and take a look at the news!! Something really big happened last night!!" Sylvia came charging into the room, shaking him awake rudely.
"Alright, alright, I am awake! Stop shaking me, okay??" Raiden grumbled in annoyance.
"Hurry up, or you will miss the news. I’ll be waiting downstairs!!" After shaking him rudely a few more times, Sylvia left the room as fast as she had come in, leaving poor Raiden disoriented.
With all his sleepiness gone, Raiden had no choice but to get up and walk downstairs. If he didn’t, he was sure she would come up again to wake him up.
"We are standing right now live at the location where the incident happened last night. As you all can see, the gigantic crater is right behind us!!! Two unknown assailants fought with each other last night, destroying the whole block of the city. The investigation is currently ongoing right now, with the police trying to find the culprit behind the incident. Stay tuned with us as we try to uncover the real culprit and talk to the police."
A woman anchor announced as the camera panned to the scene behind her, showing a gigantic crater of 2 km.
The police chief had already sealed the perimeter with yellow tape and stationed various Terra Beasts around the perimeter to prevent anyone from going inside.
Then, the camera quickly zoomed in on a guy in a police uniform, commanding others.
"Greetings, Chief! My name is Natalia from Holo News. This is being broadcast live. Everyone in the city wants to know what happened here last night. Can you provide some details? Did you find the culprit yet?" The woman rudely interrupted him and shoved a mic in his face, making him irritated.
But a second later, a smile appeared on the policeman’s face, who clearly had been media-trained before. His poker face would have looked perfect if the twitch of his eyebrows hadn’t given it away.
"Greetings, Miss Natalia. This is actually an active site of crime. I hope you can please step back for your safety. Our team is working around the clock to find out the true culprit behind this attack, but I am sure our team over there can give you all the answers you need. Now, if you excuse me—" The men tried to walk away, but Natalia wasn’t going to let such juicy information go so easily, grabbing on to his arm for dear life.
"It won’t take too long, chief. You just need to answer a few questions for us. Have you uncovered any leads at all, or do you know the culprit? The people in the city are really worried right now. What if he strikes once again? What if the next time is in an active civilian zone? I don’t think people can sleep peacefully at home without knowing if they are safe or not. It’s your duty to provide and assure the residents of Verdant Hollow."
The man froze in place, clearly irritated with questions which he needed to answer. Taking a deep breath, he turned around with a smile and started answering her questions once again.
"The citizens of Verdant Hollow do not need to worry about this. Last night was not actually a big crime scene. It was actually a member of our alliance who was taking action against some terrorists. We had evacuated all the citizens beforehand, so no one was harmed in the attack last night. So please rest assured at your homes now. If you excuse me, I really need to go and take care of some matters." The man discreetly signalled with his hands before walking away from the spot.
"Someone from the alliance did this. Who were they targeting? What was last night’s mission? Who took the action? Was it the Alliance Head for the city himself?? Did the Solaris Clan hav—"
"Alright, that’s enough questioning. Please come outside." Two tough guards appeared in front of Natalia, before hoisting her up from both sides and moving her outside the area.
Sylvia, who was looking at this news in wonder, turned towards Raiden, who had a weird look on his face.
"Wow! Did you see that, big brother? There are so many strong and dangerous people outside. It’s a good thing we live away from the farm. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have survived. Out here, we are safe from such dangerous criminals." Sylvia spoke with a cheerful voice. The more she spoke, the weirder the look on Raiden’s face got until she noticed it.
"Huh? What happened, brother? Do you perhaps have... constipation?" She peered curiously.
"Get lost. You have constipation!! Your whole family has constipation!! I don’t have constipation, okay??" Raiden fired back with an irritated voice. He couldn’t tell her it was him and her mother’s Terra Beast who did it, right?
"Ah ha! You do have constipation!! Don’t worry, we have some tablets in the bag just for this occasion." Sylvia clapped her hands as she spoke cheerfully.
"Did your hearing stop working, my dear sister? I just said I don’t have it."
"No, you just said you had it."
"I did not!!’"
"You did!!"
"Nuh uh!!"
"Uh uh!!"
"When did I say it?"
"You just said your family has constipation, and you are my only family, so you must have it," Sylvia spoke with irrefutable logic, shutting Raiden’s arguments down.
Looking at the mischievous face of his little sister, Raiden just felt tired. He wasn’t getting enough sleep to deal with this kind of bullshit in the morning.
Left with no other comeback, Raiden employed the Universal Comeback Technique that all the big brothers/sisters in the world used.
He grabbed her in a headlock and gave her a noogie.
"Ouch! Ouch!! Ouch!!! Stupid Big Brother, let..me...go!! Or I will tell...Aunt Ruby!!"
