Chapter 629: Hori and Miyamura

With chicken soup decided for dinner, the rest of the dishes were easy to figure out. Adding two semi-meat dishes and one vegetarian dish would be more than enough for tonight's meal.

After telling Haruno to rest well, Ichin returned to the media room and informed Utaha and Eriri.

The moment she heard there would be chicken soup tonight, Eriri immediately said she was staying to mooch dinner.

Ichin had no objections. It was just one extra pair of chopsticks anyway. Besides, to thank them for taking care of Eriri, Sawamura Sayuri would occasionally make some sweets and bring them over.

Now that her friends had moved into the same neighborhood, Eriri was extremely happy. Whenever it was the weekend, she would almost always come over, often staying for a couple of meals as well.

This left Aunt Sayuri rather helpless, so she could only send over food from time to time, asking Ichin and the others to look after her daughter.

Leaving Utaha at home, Ichin called out to Yukino, who had been studying in the studio, and had her accompany him to buy groceries.

Yukino had spent the entire day studying, so it was a good chance for her to get some fresh air. Otherwise, she would definitely overwork herself.

On the way to the supermarket, Ichin said, "You've been studying all day. Take a break tomorrow."

Yukino nodded. "Mm, I've almost finished what I planned to study. After reviewing a bit tomorrow morning, I'll be done."

"That's good. Studying is important, but you also need to take care of your health."

After arriving at the supermarket and parking the car, Ichin and Yukino went inside to start shopping.

However, the moment they reached the vegetable section, they spotted someone they knew, Miyamura Izumi, a junior from Toyogasaki High.

Beside Miyamura was a long-haired girl, and the two of them were picking out vegetables together.

Ichin raised an eyebrow and said to Yukino beside him, "Is that the girl from the photo you saw at Miyamura's mom's place?"

Yukino nodded. "Yes. Even though it was just a side profile, it's definitely her."

"Heh…"

Ichin smiled. That girl really was Hori Kyouko, just like he remembered. And Miyamura was wearing a smile Ichin had never seen on him before.

After observing them from a distance for a moment, Ichin said, "Let's go say hello."

Pushing the shopping cart, they walked over.

As they got closer, Ichin and Yukino overheard their conversation.

"Today's cabbage looks really fresh. Should we get some?"

"I don't mind, but Hori-san, Souta said he wants beef stew with potatoes."

"I'm the one buying groceries, so I decide! And we just had beef stew the day before yesterday. We're eating something else today! Cabbage it is!"

Just as Kyouko placed the selected cabbage into the cart, she noticed Ichin and Yukino walking straight toward them.

Miyamura also saw them and said in surprise, "Ah, senpai and senpai."

"You know them?" Hori asked.

Miyamura nodded. "Yeah, they're graduates from Toyogasaki. They're regular customers at my family's cake shop, and they're both studying at the University of Tokyo now."

"Eh! That's amazing, the University of Tokyo!"

As they approached, Ichin smiled and greeted, "Yo, long time no see, Miyamura."

"Hello, senpai, senpai," Miyamura replied with a gentle smile. After greeting them, he added, "Ah, let me introduce you. This is Hori Kyouko, she's my—"

Seeing Miyamura looking a bit awkward, Ichin smiled and said, "Your girlfriend, right? I heard about it from Utaha and Yukino. Nice to meet you, Hori. I'm Ichin."

Yukino also looked at Kyouko. "Hello, I'm Yukinoshita Yukino."

Hori quickly introduced herself as well. "Hello, senpai. I'm Hori Kyouko. Um… your names sound a bit familiar."

She frowned in thought for a moment, then suddenly realized. "Ah! I remember now. I heard Hiratsuka-sensei mention your names before, and there was also a senpai called…"

"Kasumigaoka Utaha, right?" Ichin said with a smile. "We're all Hiratsuka-sensei's students and get along pretty well. Utaha is my wife, but she stayed home today."

"W-wife? You got married so early, senpai?"

Ichin nodded. "I'm from China, so I couldn't register right after graduating high school. I had to wait until university."

As he spoke, he glanced at the two of them.

"You two are grocery shopping together… are you living together?"

His words instantly made both of them blush. Hori hurriedly explained, "N-no, we're not living together! It's just that Miyamura often comes over to my house, and my little brother always asks him to come. So we end up having meals together at home."

Ichin nodded in understanding and smiled. "That's pretty nice. Seems like Miyamura is really liked by your family."

Thinking about how her family treated Miyamura, Hori scratched her cheek with a smile. "Yeah, that's true."

Since they had run into each other and Hori and Miyamura had just started shopping, the four of them walked around together while chatting.

Of course, after a few minutes, pushing the cart and picking ingredients became Ichin and Miyamura's job, while Yukino and Hori grouped together, fully focused on chatting.

Hori's academic performance at school was quite good. Now that she had run into two top students from the University of Tokyo, and with her being in her final year of high school, she took the opportunity to ask about higher education.

As the two girls talked about studies, Ichin and Miyamura didn't join in.

After picking up a piece of pork tenderloin, Ichin asked, "Miyamura, you're in your final year now. After graduation, are you planning to continue your studies or something else?"

Miyamura also picked up a piece of pork tenderloin and replied, "As for me, my grades aren't as good as Hori's, so I'm not really considering further studies. I'll probably improve my pastry skills and focus on my family's cake shop."

"I see. That's a pretty good path too."

Ichin didn't think everyone had to go to university. Having a clear goal and focusing on developing a skill was also a great choice.

Then he brought up another topic.

"By the way, from what you said earlier, aren't you two already dating? Haven't you changed how you address each other yet? Hori seems the same as well."

"Huh?"

Both Miyamura and Hori looked over, their faces showing embarrassment and shyness.

Seeing their reactions, Ichin chuckled and teased, "Your way of getting along is already pretty nice, but changing how you address each other can take your relationship a step further. I'm not saying you should change it right now, but you can try it after you get home. The results might be pretty good."

After hearing this, the two exchanged a glance, then immediately looked away, both nodding at the same time.

After finishing their shopping and paying at the register, they declined Ichin's offer for a ride. After saying goodbye, they headed off toward the other side of the street.

Ichin turned to Yukino beside him. "What do you think, how will things develop between those two?"

Yukino shook her head. "We're not that familiar with them, so it's hard to say. But from the conversation just now, both Miyamura and Hori seem quite serious about relationships. Perhaps they'll make it to the end."

"That's what I think too. Let's go, time to head back and start dinner. We should also tell Utaha and the others about meeting them today."

"Mm, let's go back."
